A file shredder was developed to perform similar functions as that of a paper file shredder. Not only does it dispose of the file, it also eliminates even the most secure file shredder software, in which anything that has reference to the shredded file is also wiped out in its history and directory securely and permanently. There are so many people who think that the deletion of a file and emptying it right into the recycle bin means that it is already gone for good - it is still actually contained in the hard disk. The only difference is that the file no longer comes with its original name making the process of retrieving it very difficult to do.
